Through athletics, all students should understand that success and failures on and off of the field will lead to a life of accomplishment based upon integrity, perseverance, and hard work. Athletes can learn as much from losing as winning. Learning how to stand proud after being defeated or learning how to win with character is something that all competitors should experience. Regardless of the result, teams will continue to push themselves to meet their goals and learn from their successes and hardships. Athletes should continually be more proud of who they are as individuals rather than their number of successes. Giving the student/athletes clear and consistent expectations will help create a foundation for grooming students into quality citizens.
