Students will be bringing home paperwork tonight, Feb. 28th, describing our new incentive program called
"Positive Behavior Intervention and Support" or PBIS,
which will roll out on Monday, March 4th.

Person Vaping

The Dangers of Vaping Presentation was held at FMS
on Feb. 27, 2019.  Families were invited to attend and
Jessica Smith who is a licensed Addiction and Professional 
Counselor from Solvista in Cañon City was the guest speaker. 
This presentation was presented to students at the beginning
of the month and then offered to families.

Knowledge Bowl Contestants

2019 FMS Knowledge Bowl Contestants

FMS's Knowledge Bowl Team traveled to Colorado Springs on Feb. 2nd to participate in the Southern Colorado Optimist Brain Bowl. The competition was held at Challenger MS, with 33 teams in attendance. The 6th grade team placed 5th in their division and 7th grade team placed 6th in their division, both teams qualified for the Colorado-Wyoming Championships to be held on Feb. 23rd in Denver. The 8th gr team also represented our school well. The team is coached by teacher, Denise Albertson and junior coaches (high school students) Kelsie L, Madi M (not pictured), Devin B, and Wyatt B.

Spelling Bee Champ

2019 Spelling Bee Champ

Fremont Middle School held its preliminary spelling bee on January 10, 2019. The top three spellers from each grade level returned on Thursday, January 24, 2019, to spell against each other, to determine this year’s champion. The competition took place in the school cafeteria, in front of their family and friends.  After a nerve-racking competition, the winner was 6th grader, Eric Williams. Eric will now travel to Denver and represent our school in the state spelling bee. He is the son of Aaron and Katrice Williams of Florence. The winning word was "peasantry".  The winner of the National Spelling Bee will win prizes plus $40,000.
